Microneedling

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that activates your body’s natural wound-healing process by increasing your skin’s natural collagen and elastin content.

What are the benefits?

  • Minimize fine lines, wrinkles & stretch marks

  • Improve the appearance of acne scars

  • Reduce hyper-pigmentation and surgical scars

  • Reverse years of sun damage

  • Improve the overall skin appearance

What is SkinPen?

SkinPen is a non-surgical skin remodeling device that creates precise micro-punctures to stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process. Sterile microneedle cartridges are provided for single use only. SkinPen is only used in professional settings.

How does it work?

The microneedling procedure works by creating hundreds to thousands of micro-punctures into the skin to stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process. The micro-punctures trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that increase the production of natural collagen and elastin, while minimizing cellular damage.

The SkinPen treatment works in three simple steps:

 1. Inflammation – The microneedles penetrate the skin’s surface, triggering a natural immune response to disinfect, remove debris, increase blood flow, and activate the creation of new tissue.

2. Proliferation – The skin punctures are rebuilt with new granulation cells that include collagen proteins. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.

3. Remodeling - New dermal tissues form, rich in collagen and elastin proteins.

What areas of the skin can be treated?

SkinPen’s variable needle depth makes it safe and effective to use on many parts of the body, including the face, neck and décolletage. SkinPen doesn’t rely on heat or chemicals, so the results are natural and safe for all skin tones and types.

What can I expect during treatment?

A topical anesthetic is applied prior to treatment. The average session typically lasts 30 minutes. Generally, patients report feeling just the slight vibration or tickling sensation.

What can I expect after treatment?

Your skin is expected to look and feel like a sunburn with a slight swelling, and a mild to moderate redness may last for 2 to 4 days after treatment. Though many patients may heal completely in 24 hours, the total healing time depends on the depth of the treatment, skin type and skin condition

How many procedures are recommended?

The number of procedures depends on your individual procedure goals and the health of your skin. Typically, we recommend a minimum of 3 procedures spaced about 4 weeks apart. However, on scar tissue we will recommend a minimum of 6 treatments.

When will I see results?

The natural repair process of your own skin continues to progress through the course of several weeks. Damage that has occurred over an extensive period of time won’t disappear immediately. You may not see the final result for up to six months following your final session. Individual results will vary.
